  1. »In his Nobel Prize speech in 1950, Faulkner said, “I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance” (Faulkner). Despite the tragedy of Faulkner’s work — despite the pain and anguish that saturate the lives of his characters and, indeed, despite the cruelty of many of them, including Jason Compson and Anse Bundren — he made a point to publicize his belief in mankind.«

He became very fast one of my favorite authors. The first book I read from him was „the sound and the fury“ and his style took my breath. I didn’t wanted to stop. And „as I lay dying“ is even better for me. The mood and atmosphere he creates is incredible!
